Fusion Flowers – Weddingsmagazine was originally conceived as an aid to the floristry industry both to inspire florists to broaden their skill base plus showing potential customers just what is available to them from the professional florist. This was hugely successful and each issue of the magazine has been considered a major breakthrough. Issue 1 sold out completely.
The concept certainly worked and it was down to us to find ways to continue to inspire the industry. So the search was on to track down new talent to showcase in issue 4. Combined with this, the global economic downturn initially seemed to affect the bridal market but things were already changing and many florists saw an upturn in business. The bridal work is certainly out there but brides look not only for unique styles but value for money too!
In this 164 page issue we brought together designers from China, Indonesia, Germany, Australia, Russia, The Netherlands, Finland, Denmark, Singapore, Norway, USA and the UK all showing new, inspirational ideas and techniques from their own countries. This mixture of styles is what makes Fusion Flowers – Weddings magazine so different.
New to this issue was sections on church decoration, table designs and there was even an insight into how to make a bridal archway from palm leaves. We tackled the subject of providing beautiful end products using flowers that are sometimes overlooked in bridal design but which, if used by the clever florist, can still offer the WOW factor whilst being highly profitable.
One extra challenge was given to two of our contributors, John Hosek AIFD and Louise Kjær Graakjær. John is one of the designers of the annual Oscars event in Hollywood where he creates a veritable floral wonderland. He is also known for his spectacular event floristry. Louise, who comes from Denmark, is more used to working on a tighter economic basis and is highly regarded for her clever, artistic use of botanical materials where even individual petals have value (see the Church Chimes entrance door design using only leftover carnation stems). The challenge was – design two different table settings for a bridal celebration but using similar products – and the results were quite simply amazing!
All of the designers involved in this issue have pushed their artistic ideas to the limit whilst still offering you the chance to make a solid profit.
Once again, we featured those internationally acclaimed Australian teachers, Mark Pampling and IreneBrockwell. They each created three bouquet ideas which will give you a real insight into their techniques in step-by-step format.
