I have to confess up front that I have a love of orchids that knows no bounds so when I heard that "The Master" (as he is known here) was about to release a book about one of my favourite blooms - I was excited. There is no doubt that the work of Gregor Lersch is multifarious and in this his latest book he shows a comprehensive range of the technical work he is so famous for. As you would expect, he doesn't just opt for cut flower ideas but also shows new possibilities to use for growing plants too and I suspect that many will find this very interesting; particularly for corporate work.

Gregor has returned to his previous style of presentation combined with close-up detail to give you a look at the techniques used. I have to say that I think his half or full "prickly spheres" used as flower supports are ingenious. As with all of his books, there are details beside each design of the plant material used but as an added bonus in this one, he has included a comprehensive history of the plants, plus, an easily used identification and care listing (something that is sorely needed).

What has to be stressed is that you should understand that this is not a pretty picture/coffee table book but a potential reference for the use of orchids in all their forms, from planted arrangements (including some sited directly in water) through to bouquets and funeral work. An educational addition to your library.
