Katrien Vandierendonck is a Belgian ‘floral decorator’ who specialises in themed event and wedding parties. She is an experienced demonstrator and gives workshops both in Belgium and overseas.

In this charming little book, Katrien explores the new trend for outdoor living spaces and how to incorporate floral designs and fun ideas into this concept. Bringing nature into the home has long been popular but there is no doubt that the move towards using the garden as a living space too can certainly play into the hands of a clever and inventive floral designer.

She certainly has some lovely ideas and features everything from bridal concepts to picnics; drinks parties to formal events; whimsy in the garden to a ‘dinner party for wild birds’. This book would therefore be ideal for someone who likes to explore new ideas and is open to coping with the outdoor environment and all its inherent challenges. There are spartan details on the botanical materials used but I suspect that this is intended more as an ‘ideas’ book than a botanical reference book. This is a perfect book for a gift.
