Floristry Techniques Definitions Booklet by the Society of Floristry

48 pages Softback  Written in English Published 2007 by The Society of Floristry  Illustrations by Laura Leong ICSF

This handy little book has been designed as a companion to the current Society of Floristry handbook and includes updated definitions for many of the techniques commonly used in floristry.  The diagrammatic illustrations are fairly large and are reasonably easy to understand.  The accompanying text gives the definition of the technique.

The book has been designed with a specific purpose in mind and is aimed at floristry students, florists, judges and examiners who work within the Society of Floristry framework.  The Society clearly hopes that in turn the Definitions will then be adopted by 'awarding bodies and training providers'.  Indeed some of these definitions apparently differ considerably from those in the current Society of Floristry Handbook (due for re-release in 2008).

It should therefore be noted that many of the definitions stated vary from those of other countries and cannot therefore be used as an ultimate guide.  However, that does not alter the fact that when used in certain situations in the UK, this book is very useful.  It also gives a clear insight to readers outwith the UK as to current thinking and vocabulary within the Society.

NB The book is only available directly through the Society of Floristry and is NOT available through Fusion Flowers.  Priced £4.99 + post and packing.  To order telephone 0870 2410432
