Daniël Ost has, without doubt, become a legend within his own lifetime and some of his books have become collector’s items. Many of the original large scale books now achieve three times the original price on the re-sale market. In Invitation II, his latest volume, Mr Ost has once again reached the dizzying heights of excellence of some of his previous publications and whereas some of the more recent volumes have featured disappointing imagery and even work previously featured in other books; this is not the case in Invitations II – the book is quite simply – spectacular!

From constructions to bridal bouquets (yes – bridal bouquets from Daniël Ost – how exciting!); from table centrepieces to castle decoration; from suspended ceiling designs to plant manipulation – it’s all here and all shown in glorious photography which was one of the high points of his earlier books. Mr Ost is a Master craftsman and his floristry is outstanding but to achieve many of these concepts, he is obviously assisted by some remarkable talent too. There is a lot of inspiration in this book and although few if any of us could ever expect to work on some of the large, theatrical, event designs featured in the book, there are still lots and lots of ideas that could be adapted.

For those amongst us who, like me, are collectors of his books, I can assure you – this is the one we’ve been waiting for – Invitations II proves that the Master is alive, well and inspired. Without question, this book comes as highly recommended and we are certain that this will become one of his classic volumes and will inevitably become a collector’s item because previous titles at this level have sold out globally within a relatively short period of time. We therefore advise early purchase.
