UK Interflora Florist of the Year

Every two years the UK division of Interflora hold their national competition to find the Interflora Florist of the Year and the Interflora Florist of the Future.  These closely fought competitions occur after more than a year of local heats to find the regional representatives who will go forward to the national competitions.  This year the winner of the highly prestigious title of Interflora Florist of the Year was Francisco Martinez of Landsdowne Florist in Bournemouth.  Of course, Landsdowne Florist is well known because the owner, David Ragg, has previously won this very title and it would appear that Francisco is now following in his footsteps!  Francisco’s designs featured the use of brightly coloured plastic drinking cups and straws sometimes as containers but also as mechanics.  His work also featured some fairly exotic flowers and foliages.



Winner of the title Interflora Florist of the Future was Joseph Massie of Fishlocks Flower Express in Liverpool.  Joe, who also created a step-by-step design in Issue 49, produced a remarkable handbag design and his table setting certainly had the WOW factor in the competition. 

As with previous Interflora UK competition winners, I suspect that we’ll be hearing more from these talented men in years to come.
