Orchid, The Fatal Attraction by Dr Anne Ronse

144 pages Hardback Written in English Published in 2008 by Stichting Kunstboek

Once in a while a book comes along for us to review that cries out for inclusion even though it doesn’t meet our normal criteria. Orchid, The Fatal Attraction is one such book. We had to include it because it’s just so gorgeous!

The subject of orchids is one close to the heart of many floral designers. Some feel it’s a privilege to work with these flowers and plants but I wonder how many designers actually decide to investigate the history and nature of them rather than just how to condition them. When this book landed on my desk I was instantly captivated. The text by Dr Anne Ronse, former president of the Brabanse Orchideeënvereniging, one of Belgium’s orchid societies, is informative and enthusiastic and the photography – well the photography is superlative! It’s so good that the flowers literally drip off the pages capturing the imagination and the heart. (We will have a brief glimpse of the book in Issue 46 of Fusion Flowers magazine.)

If you want something special, are addicted to orchids and want to luxuriate in glorious text and images; this is the book for you but be aware there are no designs just information.
