The Girona Flower Festival

Like some form of 80s workout, the team from Pandora’s Box climbed up and down the steps in front of Girona Cathedral to create a colourful collaboration

The Hot & Happening section of Issue 42 of Fusion Flowers magazine saw a desperate plea from Niels Van Hemert for help in a task that had been given to the international contemporary florist group, Pandora’s Box.  Pandora’s had been ‘invited’ to decorate the Cathedral steps of Girona with colourful and long-lasting flowers.  These were to last for the duration of the Girona Flower Festival – not easy – and as this area is a must for all the visitors – it had to have the WOW factor!

Niels was delighted and indeed surprised but the enthusiastic response he received from readers, several of whom travelled to Spain to work with the group.  This experience certainly seems to have been a hit with some readers writing in to tell us of their exploits.  This offered them the rare opportunity of working with florists from all over Europe, most speaking different languages, to create a fabulous floral exhibition.

In Issue 43 Niels takes us behind the scenes and you can witness the technical mechanics and materials they worked with and see the wonderful work they produced.  In fact you can even see the entire team seated in front of their work – a bit like a school photograph but on a massive scale.  You can find the full story and detailed images in Issue 43 of Fusion Flowers magazine.
