International Floral Art 08/09

The latest International Floral Art 08/09 compendium has finally made its way across the channel to the UK and we reveal if it was worth the wait!

After months of preparation, heated debates in the judging session and weeks and weeks of work on the layout – International Floral Art 08/09 is finally out.  In Issue 43 of Fusion Flowers magazine readers have a preview of just some of the work that was accepted this time around.  In fact, the front cover of this special Anniversary issue of Fusion Flowers by Finland’s Pirjo Koppi comes from her entry for the book.

There’s no question that some of the work is quite remarkable and it’s fascinating to see how certain countries are developing with more and more of their designers being included.  This is particularly prevalent when it comes to the contemporary floral designers from Russia who are emerging as major contenders in the design arena.

Of course the work in the book is in no way to viewed as commercial in nature.  Designers who submit their images know that the panel is looking for plant material used in an artistic way if not as actual art forms and, in some very special cases, it’s really hard to imagine that it is actual plant material that has been used.

Once again we would like to thank Stichting Kunstboek for permitting our readers to see inside this highly desirable book.  See the full story in Issue 43 of Fusion Flowers magazine.

International Floral Art 08/09 is now available through Fusion Flowers Book Club.
