For many years Sue Phillips has been a fan of the Belgian Master florist Daniel Ost. She has collected all of his books and regularly refers to them for inspiration for her own work. After reading a feature in Fusion Flowers magazine Sue and her friend trekked to Belgium on a pilgrimage to visit the Daniel Ost exhibition in Brussels last year. In Issue 36 Sue tells the story of her trip.
We were so impressed, that we have devoted 9 pages of Issue 36 to share Daniel's work with our readers. He has managed to create arrangements to compliment unusual containers in settings that would normally challenge any designer but Mr Ost being the expert that he is even manages to use vintage cars to effect! Many of his arrangements use lots and lots of one type of plant material to create a backdrop for one or two special flowers but there was also evidence of more minimalistic work too.
Apparently the venue was packed with visitors who, like Sue, had travelled to Brussels just for the event. Did she like what she saw? You bet she did! You can read all about her trip and look at the beautiful arrangements in Issue 36 of Fusion Flowers magazine. |
