There is no doubt that current interior design trends cry out for a more unique approach to floral design and in this book Geert Pattyn explores the possibilities be it with massed or more minimalistic concepts. This is, therefore, a book for those of us interested in an overall look or atmosphere and although some of the vase designs seem very simplistic, it should be looked at as a good indication that complex design work is not always necessary and in fact does not lead to harmony.
Some of the more complex pieces are undoubtedly pieces of art very akin to sculptures and are quite lovely. Personally, I found this a highly inspirational book in parts. It has a reasonably good botanical reference at the back. The photography by Bart Van Leuven is marvellous and he manages to capture the interior atmospheres to perfection.
