I first met Stein Are Hansen in Paris and was completely blown away by this young man's techniques in design. All the more so when he came up with several other ideas for "quick" bridal designs which had my mind reeling. When we spoke we discussed, among other things, this his first book and he revealed that he has continued to develop several of the techniques used.
The book is certainly varied and colourful and initially I felt that much of it was in fact artwork. It is only after further study that you realise just how many practical ideas there are here. His little moss spirals on rods hold great possibilities for minimalistic work and are in fact very practical as are many of the constructions. His lemon peel table has obviously inspired others but it's his signature designs of the open-work carnations that take the trick!
There is a good botanical glossary at the back of the book and the photography by Espen Gronli is excellent.
