If I was asked to recommend one book which would sum up the principles of contemporary floral design using floral foam, this is the book. I first came across it when it was published in 1999 but was recently asked if I would supply it through Book Club. This I am happy to do because it has stood the test of time and will do for many years to come. This is no coffee table book but is a handbook for anyone who is truly serious about exploring the potential that plant materials can offer to designers.
Not only rich in colour photography it gives details of techniques, application and descriptions of each individual design and concept. It has been colour coded to link with styles of design which makes it very accessible. But be under no illusions some of this work is very technical and it is designed as a course to be worked through. So don't start at the end.
It was interesting to note that students at Gregor's recent summer school who possessed this book did not actually understand how to use it - so work with the colour coding.
Produced in conjunction with Oasis, this is a must for any contemporary floral designer.
