In 2006 the well-known American designer Penny Horne was invited by the Rev Bill McMillan MBE MA to give 'a wee talk and a slide show' at the International Symposium of Floral Art which was held in Dromantine, Northern Ireland. The Rev is a very persuasive and charming man and, after many assurances, convinced Penny to take to the stage and give a lecture to delegates from 28 countries. The outcome of said talk was a warm and enthusiastic standing ovation from delegates thrilled by the amount of work and skill Penny put in to her performance.
So dramatic was the response that Penny was convinced to record the 'talk' again, this time for a worldwide audience and this has resulted in her DVD 'The Great American Melting Pot'.
Penny is a charming orator. Her presentation skills are superb and the information on the history of flower arranging in America has been honed to perfection. After much discussion Penny agreed to release the DVD and we are delighted to be able to offer it to our readers. The illustrations are wonderful as is the delightful music on the soundtrack. Some illustrations are a little fuzzy but this does not detract from the overall production.
This would be ideal for colleges, students, flower clubs and those interested in the history of flower arranging. It is in fact a tour de force.
