It is nice to come across a book that does exactly what it says it does. The unpretentious title, Floristry – A Step-by-Step Guide, completely describes what is inside this book. Step-by-step guides to basic floristry on almost every subject from basic bridal work to sympathy through to arranging and seasonal designs are shown throughout. The images and descriptions are clear and concise which would make this a good book for a basic introduction to floristry.
However, not all of the designs shown in the book are actually referred to in the step-by-step guides. In fact, some of these are at a fairly advanced level of floristry. The book is obviously aimed at the Anglo/American market because there are certain references to styles and materials which are currently either only available or seen in America. This should not, however, detract from the overall content of the book which is good.
Over the years there have been a number of books published on this subject but the advantage that this book has over the older publications is that many of the references are very current. This book would therefore be ideal for someone who would like to dabble in floristry or who is interested in learning more.
