This booklet has been produced by the Society of Floristry in answer to the various definitions currently being taught throughout the world on the subject of the term Form Linear design and on the 3:5:8 proportions.  The concept, having originated from a meeting of the International Floristry Tutors Group when they met in Poland under the tutelage of German Master Florist, Gregor Lersch, was finally brought to fruition in 2009.  The booklet is therefore intended for use by floristry students, qualified florists, tutors, assessors, judges and examiners to give a level grounding for these subjects.

This time they cover the subject of Wedding Flowers. All of the books in this series have been highly sought after as they give such a broad spectrum of information and technical insight into how the various designs are created. However, there is absolutely no question that this little volume will out sell the others because – the demand for this type of book is huge!

There is absolutely no doubt that modern French design is extremely popular. The original Sketchbook by Gregor Lersch was produced several years ago and, at the time, sold like hot cakes.  In this, a new version with new designs and layout, I think the original formula has been improved.  Mr Lersch sketches all the time and anyone who has the pleasure of working with him will confirm this.  Even when asked to autograph his books he will take the time to create a drawing for the individual concerned.  All of this may sound very nice and creative but, in fact; the collection of sketches and notations explaining techniques and mechanics to be applied here are derived from his various demonstrations and workshops around the world.

It is a rare opportunity indeed to find ourselves reviewing a book by a Japanese Master. Ryusaku Matsuda is a legend in design terms and has had more oneman exhibitions than you can imagine. In fact, his large scale installations (because that’s what many of them are) is a cross between contemporary Ikebana and Land Art. Interestingly, Mr Matsuda does not consider himself to be an artist as such. He has previously produced several successful books but this one is dedicated to contemporary Floral Art.
